Need
a respite from a busy day? Stop by the Oxford Lane Public Library,
conveniently located at the edge of the Uptown Oxford shopping
area. Over one hundred thousand current books, magazines, videos,
and audio CD's are available for browsing and borrowing. The
attractive 14,000 square foot building provides space for relaxed
reading, conferring with Information Services staff, and exploring
the topic of your choice on the Internet. The Cullen Meeting
Room is the site for an ongoing series of author visits, concerts,
story times, lectures, and book discussions for both adults
and children.
Lively
service to young people has been a priority since the Oxford
Lane Public Library opened in 1958. A special space for teens
features the latest paperbacks and a Young Adult Librarian is
on hand to suggest a great read or a homework-helpful resource.
The Children's library has expanded twice to provide room for
videos, books on tape, and puppets, as well as ten thousand
picture books. The ClassAct Gallery and a puppet stage for impromptu
shows add to the fun.
