Kamishibai for Kids at the Oxford Lane Library

Children ages 6 – 12 are invited to learn the fun and easy storytelling technique, Kamishibai for Kids, at the Oxford Lane Library. Japanese storytellers used to bike around the countryside with miniature theaters on their bikes. Now you can learn how to tell a story the Kamishibai way. It’s easy and fun to do! Join us on Monday, July 13, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (Ages 6 - 8) and 7:15 - 8:15 p.m. (Ages 9 - 12). Registration is required. Call 523-7531, ext. 218.


Be Creative at the Lane Libraries with the Summer Reading Challenge

Children 12 and under:
This summer, be creative with books and programs at the Lane Libraries. Children of all ages are invited to participate in the summer reading challenge June 1 – August 15.

For every 20 books you read OR 10 hours of reading you participate in, complete a reading challenge card, return it to the Children’s Department at the Hamilton, Fairfield or Oxford Lane Libraries or on the Bookmobile and you will eligible to win the grand prize of a bike! That’s Saying a Mouthful at the Fairfield Lane Library

This summer, children ages 6 - 12 are invited to participate in That’s Saying a Mouthful at the Fairfield Lane Library. Monday, June 1 – Saturday, August 15 kids will be encouraged to explore foreign lands through language. "Gimme" an Ant at the Fairfield Lane Library

Do you know what an antonym is? An antonym is a word of opposite meaning. Children ages 6 – 12 are invited to discover "Gimme" an Ant at the Fairfield Lane Library. Find the correct antonym for each day's word and share your discovery with a librarian. Increase you brainpower every time you visit the library.


Read with Bandit at the Fairfield Lane Library

Sign up to Read with Bandit this spring at the Fairfield Lane Library. All ages, individuals or families, are invited to share a book with a furry listener who will help you practice your reading skills. Registration is required. Contact the Children's Department for dates and times and to register for a 20-minute session. For details, call 858-3238, ext. 360. The Fairfield Lane Library is located at 1485 Corydale Dr.


Database Discovery at the Fairfield Lane Library

Your very own private story time is waiting just for you at the Fairfield Lane Library with Database Discovery – Story Time on Demand. Children ages 3 - 8 are invited to open up the Tumblebooks database, sit back and listen as the pages of the book unfold. Visit the children's area anytime December – March to discover what this wonderful database has to offer. For details call 858-3238, ext. 360. New TumbleBook Online Books!

The Lane Libraries now offers a new database for children called TumbleBook Library. It is an online collection of animated, talking picture books, puzzles and games, which teach young children the joys of reading a format that they'll love.


Pockets

Be a published author! The Hamilton Lane Library is now accepting submissions for a new literary magazine for kids 12 and under we're calling "Pockets." We're looking for your stories, poetry, illustrations, book reviews, photographs and essays. Entry form available here.
