The Hamilton Lane Library Group Discusses Mark Haddon Book

The Hamilton Lane Library's Great Books Discussion Group meets the third Tuesday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. to discuss that month's selection. The July selection to be discussed is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon on Tuesday, July 15. This group is for adults 18 and over, requires registration and will meet at the Lane Administration Center. To register or for directions, call Information Services at 894-7158. The Lane Administration Center is located at 1396 University Blvd. in Hamilton.


Fifth Annual Toshokan Fest at the Fairfield Lane Library

The Lane Libraries invite teens 13 – 18 to celebrate all things Japanese during the fifth annual Toshokan Fest at the Fairfield Lane Library on Saturday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Cincinnati Go Club will join us to demonstrate the ancient Japanese game "Go." There will be Tokyo Pop music, anime trivia, a workshop teaching Para Para dance moves, anime viewings and more. You can even come in costume as your favorite anime or manga character. Registration is required. To register, call 894-7158.


Sunday Sounds Presents Dave Sams at the Fairfield Lane Library

The Fairfield Lane Library continues the Sunday Sounds series with Dave Sams on Sunday, July 6 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a free cup of coffee while you listen to Dave's performance of American folk, world music and blues guitar.


Jazz and Blues Extravaganza at the Oxford Lane Library

Escape the heat and join us for a Jazz and Blues Extravaganza at the Oxford Lane Library this summer. Enjoy an hour of refreshing music in the lobby on the second Tuesday of each month. The Cunningham Duo will perform on Tuesday, August 5 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.


The Pen and Ink Collaborative at the Fairfield Lane Library

Join us for writing exercises, peer reviews and more during the Pen and Ink Collaborative at the Fairfield Lane Library on Tuesdays, June 3, July 1 and August 12 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is a creative writing workshop designed to help writers 18 – up of all skill levels get published. Collaboration worked for Tolkien and C.S. Lewis; it can work for you! For more information, call 858-3238, ext. 358.

Reading & All That Jazz Programs at the Lane Libraries

The Lane Libraries start off the twelfth season of Reading & All That Jazz on Tuesday, June 3 at noon. Due to a building renovation currently in progress at the Hamilton Lane Library, jazz performances will not be offered this summer. You can still enjoy book reviews every other Tuesday at noon throughout the summer at the Lane Administration Center, 1396 University Blvd., Hamilton.

The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner

This popular series of weekly book reviews will entertain you all summer long, June through August. All programs, free and open to the public, are every other Tuesday at noon at the Lane Administration Center, 1396 University Blvd., Hamilton.


Hamilton Lane Library Drive-Thru Reopened

Effective May 14, the Hamilton Lane Library Drive-thru is now reopened. "Drive-thru - Hamilton" is now an available option as a pickup location in the catalog. If you'd like to arrange to pick items up at the Drive-thru, call Information Services at 894-7158.

The bookdrops at Hamilton's Drive-thru will continue to be closed until further notice. During this time, a temporary bookdrop is located on the north side of the building on Linden Street, across from the library parking lot. Thank you for your patience during this time of change.


Jim Blount Local History Resources

Jim Blount, Butler County historianWe are pleased to announce the availability of 2 new local history resources provided by noted local historian Jim Blount: an Index of Butler County Place Names and an index of Mr. Blount's Journal-News columns since 1988.
