As defined
by its Board of Trustees, the mission of the Lane Public Library (LPL)
and its staff members is "to provide and promote library resources
to meet the educational, recreational, cultural, civic, and informational
needs of the library's service area."

REPORTS
TO: Director/Clerk-Treasurer FLSA:
Exempt
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans,
coordinates, evaluates, and maintains library services, resources, and
collections for the branch
- Oversees
and participates in the daily operations of the branch
- Hires,
trains, supervises, coaches, evaluates and motivates branch staff
- Meets
frequently with branch staff, and maintains an atmosphere of open communications
- Prepares
communications, budgets, personnel records, and administrative reports
- Maintains
a safe, comfortable, attractive facility
- Participates
in system-wide planning, decision-making and evaluation as a member
of Council
- Shares
information with the system on trends and developments in library services
- Provides
direct assistance and instruction for patrons and LPL staff members
in locating and using information resources and services
- Interprets
patron questions and advises patrons of materials meeting their criteria
- Plans,
promotes, implements, recommends, and evaluates library programs, activities,
exhibits, and displays
- Reads
reviews, bibliographies and other sources, selects and weeds materials,
evaluates challenged materials, maintains collections
- Promotes
LPL within the community; coordinates and implements a community relations
plan
- Chairs
and serves on various teams and committees
- Keeps
informed of current trends and issues in librarianship and participates
in activities of professional and community organizations

REQUIRED
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- MLS degree
from an ALA-accredited school
- Demonstrated
library administrative, budgetary, supervisory and leadership experience.
OTHER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Works
flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Assists
other agencies / departments, as needed
SALARY:
$48, 857 - $61,561, 37.5 hour work week. Four weeks paid vacation after
one full year of service. Health and dental insurance 80% employer paid.
Paid sick leave, vision, life and short-term disability insurance. Eleven
paid holidays and OPERS retirement system with a deferred compensation option.
